Update -Tibetan support for the new Panchen Lama forces China to make plans to set up a rival vandidate<

Dharamsala, 4 November 1995 - This morning (4 November 1995) 75 Tibetan party members and religious personalities from 'the Tibet Autonomous Region' and other Tibetan areas incorporated into various Chinese provinces received an "invitation" to leave their respective places by 8:40 tomorrow morning for Beijing. The 75 Tibetans have been selected directly from Beijing.

These Tibetans have been informed that nobody could take leave. Even those among the 75 who have been hospitalised have been ordered to leave for Biejing tomorrow. They have been told that attending the meeting in Beijing is a "test of your nationalism and your political stand."

The "invitation" letter stated that the main agenda of the Beijing meeting is to discuss the reincarnation of the Panchen Lama. The meeting will be held at Jingxi Binguan in the Chinese capital.
